Gwendolyn MacEwen (1941 - 1987)

The Toronto poet had a turbulent life full of curiosity about other cultures: she taught herself Hebrew, Arabic, Greek and French in order to translate writers from each of those languages. She published more than 20 books, in a variety of genres. The bust, which represents her fascination with Ancient Egypt, was finished with pages from THE POETRY OF GWENDOLYN MacEWEN, VOL II - THE LATER YEARS.
