Gabrielle Roy (1909 - 1983)

A Franco-Manitoban who lived much of her adult life in Quebec City, Gabrielle Roy was the first Canadian to win a major French literary prize, the Prix Femina for BONHEUR d'OCCASION. It's English translation, THE TIN FLUTE, won the Governor General's Award in 1947. The bust is finished in pages from both versions.
